Recruitment context

In a context of strong business growth, the Prospector Wind Flanders will reinforce the prospecting team of Virya’s Energy Portfolio of wind projects in Flanders, both in agricultural and business zones.

Your tasks

The Prospector Wind Flanders is responsible for, but not limited to, the following tasks:

• Identifying the best location opportunities for new wind projects (and other grid solutions) through:

  • Feeding and maintaining a network of landowners and commercial stakeholders, with support of the Public Affairs Team

  • Identifying new potential development zones through analyzing maps, urban planning documents, environmental conditions, regional energy production targets, competition’s positions, with the support of the technical support office

• Negotiate and secure contracts related to the land rights for the projects, in collaboration with the legal team and with support of the contract manager

• Supporting the project developer’s team in obtaining definitive permits in Flanders, by:

  • Providing expertise on permitting for wind projects (key stakeholders, circular, environmental legislation)

  • Building support for the wind projects from different authorities and stakeholders (residents, neighborhood committees, regional press)

• Initiate and steer strategic partnerships with other developers or business introducers able to originate new projects to speed up the wind development in Flanders

• Translates the development strategy of Virya Energy into a tactical plan for the development of wind projects in Flanders and identify the best scenarios in concertation with the team leader Prospection

• Proposing innovative solutions to initiate or unlock complex projects, such as participation in renewable energy communities or hybrid projects (wind-solar, wind-storage, etc.)

• Reporting your activities to the Team Leader Prospection and the Head of Development

Profile required

• You have a university degree in commercial engineering, management, environment or sustainable development.

·       You have at least 5 years' relevant experience in prospecting and/or development, preferably in the field of renewable energies.

·       You are Dutch speaker with a fluent knowledge of French and English, both orally and in writing.

·       You have a network of contacts/stakeholders, particularly in Flanders, and are willing to develop it with the support of the Virya Group.

·    You have knowledge of environmental and planning regulations for the development of wind power projects in Flanders. Permitting experience is a plus.

·       You are prepared to travel to the localities where wind farm projects are being developed.

·       You have strong communication skills, both written and oral, enabling you to argue and convince in all types of contexts.

·       You enjoy working as part of a team and cooperate easily with other teams.

·       You demonstrate a high degree of initiative and autonomy

·       You are convinced of the essential role of renewable energies in Belgium's energy transition, and are eager to contribute to it within a fast-growing company.
